What is the Bible way to heaven?

The Bible says that you can know for sure that you have a relationship with God and that you have eternal life.

1 John 5:13,

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Here is what you need to know according to the Bible to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

1. RECOGNIZE YOUR CONDITION.

No one is good enough to go to Heaven on his own merit. No matter how much good we do, we still fall short. 

We have all broken God’s law (lying, stealing, disobedience, using God’s name in vain) and are therefore a sinner.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

A wage is a payment. The payment for your sin is death and separation from God in a place that the Bible calls Hell.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death…

Revelation 20:14

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

2. REALIZE THAT RELIGION AND GOOD WORKS CANNOT SAVE YOU.

We cannot do anything to save ourselves or add to God’s grace. 

Doing better, turning over a new leaf, or being religious will not earn you forgiveness and eternal life.

Ephesians 2:8-9 

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

3. GOD LOVED YOU AND SENT HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST, TO SHED HIS BLOOD ON THE CROSS TO PAY FOR YOUR SIN.

Romans 5:8

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The word “commendeth” means "proved." God proved His love for you by giving His own Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for your sins.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, 

but have everlasting life.

4. PUT YOUR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST ALONE AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR.

Romans 6:23

…But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 

Everlasting life is a gift purchased by the blood of Jesus and offered freely to those who believe on Him.

Romans 10:9-10

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 

Acts 20:21

Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

To repent and believe on Jesus Christ as Savior means to admit you are a sinner. Instead of excusing that fact, you believe that Jesus died for you, believe that Jesus paid the price for your sin, and rose again from the dead, and believe that He is the only way to Heaven. You can express your faith in Jesus Christ by calling on Him in prayer. 

(Realize it's not mere words that save, but your faith in Jesus Christ.)

"Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe that you died on the cross and shed your blood for my sins. I believe that you rose from the dead three days later. I am placing my faith in you alone to forgive my sin and save me. Thank you for giving me eternal life, in Jesus' name, AMEN."
